MLW reveals new title design for world heavyweight championship

Calling for aficionados of championship belt designs. MLW has something for you.

Major League Wrestling revealed the new design of the MLW World Heavyweight Championship held by Satoshi Kojima at Battle Riot.

Here is an image of the previous design for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.

Wildcat Championship Belts

The new belt isn’t just for show. Kojima had to put in work to take it home. He defended the gold against Tom Lawlor.

Mister Saint Laurent was barred from ringside after being caught trying to smuggle contraband in Lawlor’s trunks. When the match began, Filthy Tom focused on attacking the left knee. He had Kojima in trouble with an Anaconda Vice submission early, but the champ reached the ropes with his foot for the break. Kojima rallied for a DDT and a cutter. Lawlor dodged a lariat to counter for a rear naked choke. Kojima slunk down to the mat. Lawlor released the submission to go for the pin. Kojima kicked out to continue the fight. Lawlor hit a knee strike to the back of the head and followed with a straitjacket grip for a second knee strike to the head. That still wasn’t enough to keep Kojima down for the three-count. The Bread Winner fired up for a hard lariat. Kojima ran the ropes for extra power on a second lariat to win.

Kojima has a date with Matt Riddle for a future world title defense. The King of Bros won the Battle Riot match with the prize of calling his shot for anytime, anywhere.

In other title action at Battle Riot, Janai Kai retained the MLW Women’s Featherweight Championship against Delmi Exo. This was the first singles rematch for the God Queen since losing the belt to the Kick Demon. Cesar Duran backed Exo, but his presence only backfired. When Exo hit a package piledriver finisher, Salina de la Renta barged in looking for revenge. She tried to spray mace in Duran’s eyes. He ducked, and the liquid burned Exo’s eyes instead. Kai pounced for a big kick in the corner on her blinded opponent to win. This finish was kind of clunky in execution. I’m unclear on why Exo never tried to pin Kai off the package piledriver. What’s done is done, and Kai walked out with the championship.
