Eastpak & Avavav Put the Fun Back into Fashion with Exclusive Collaboration
Having debuted at Milan Fashion Week back in February, Eastpak x Avavav is officially here as the duo come through with a plethora of standout accessories.
Balancing both of their respective design languages with expert ease, Eastpak and Avavav are instilling a tongue-in-cheek tone into their debut collaboration, bridging the gap between the former’s favoured utility stylings and Italian brand Avavav’s flare for fashionable fun. The independent fashion house has often sparked conversations with their imitable runway shows and one-of-one design style, with this new Eastpak collaboration encapsulating that sense as a selection of bags ranging from the AV Double Pak’r and AV Reader to the AV Bumbag and AV Mini Bag get put up for grabs. Championing durability and functionality as well as fun, a plethora of accessories arrive in shades of “Black,” “Green,” and “White,” with doubled-up designs, multi-pockets, and signature Avavav finger-shape hardware combining to instil a sense of uniformity to the collection, whilst also giving each piece a unique edge.
Discussing the creative intent behind the exclusive collection, Beate Karlsson, Creative Director at Avavav, stated the following:
“For the Avavav x Eastpak collaboration I wanted to design something that built on the Eastpak DNA, but that also introduced new Avavav silhouettes. So I started with the most obvious base – the Padded Pak’r. I like the round organic shape of the Padded Pak’r and I started to collage it in different ways, deconstructing and multiplying it to create new silhouttes. I like how it gives an almost utilitarian look when it’s multiplied, as on the Bumbag and Reader styles. It also made sense to me to make a Double Pak’r since it starts to look like our signature bag and our finger shapes. To finish of the capsule collection we also added the Mini Bag, which is based on our signature bag silhouette that we are launching early this year.”
The Avavav x Eastpak collection is available to shop now in selected retail stores and online.
