Cheyenne Mountain Zoo to hold World Giraffe Day celebration on the longest day of the year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – What do you get when you combine the longest day with the longest-necked animal?

One long party!

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is celebrating World Giraffe Day on Friday, June 21 with a whole day of giraffe-themed activities!

“This is our way of thanking our community for their dedication to our herd, our Zoo and our conservation partners all year long,” says Diana Miller, giraffe specialist at The Giraffe Center. “We have a ton of inspiring activities planned!”

If you’re wanting to join in, Giraffe Party 2024 starts at 9 a.m., with a giraffe fan parade at 10! Guests will also get to help feed the giraffes, watch training with Khalid (known as daddy giraffe to several youngsters in the herd), take part in arts and crafts, facepainting, and more. There’s even a photo booth!

Guests will also get the opportunity to learn more about the herd and how to help save the wild giraffe.

A full list of activities can be found here. The party will be held along the giraffe plaza and giraffe boardwalk.
