Trina McGee reveals how she got pregnant at 54 — as ‘Boy Meets World’ co-star Maitland Ward expresses doubt
Trina McGee is pulling back the curtain on her pregnancy journey.
One day after telling her Instagram followers that she was expecting a baby at age 54, the “Boy Meets World” alum opened up to “Entertainment Tonight” about conceiving one year into menopause.
McGee and her husband, Marcello Thedford, worked with the Garifuna people in Belize to reverse the decline of reproductive hormones by taking medicinal herbs recommended by shamans.
She added that her No. 1 tip was “to not partake in any stress and stay away from negativity.”
The actress explained, “That pertains to what I put on TV, what I look at on my phone. There is so much drama and violence and negativity out there as soon as you turn on the screen.”
She noted during Tuesday’s interview that she and Thedford are open to having another baby after this one’s arrival.
McGee went on to tell the outlet that some of her former “Boy Meets World” co-stars, including Danielle Fishel, were aware of the news before she posted it Monday.
“At the tender age of 54 I have found myself pregnant,” the expectant star wrote on social media. “Please bless us with your prayers for a safe delivery.”
Maitland Ward, who played Rachel McGuire in the ABC sitcom, confessed to TMZ Wednesday that she thought the upload was a belated “April Fool’s joke” at first.
“I hate to say it, but I was like … ‘Wait, what?’” the adult film star, 47, said of her reaction. “I hope that it’s not a publicity stunt or anything … because I have not seen any verification or information.”
Ward also shared her hope for McGee to show her baby bump or document her pregnancy journey.
“That’s a pretty big deal,” she said. “I think that would help a lot of women with fertility issues to naturally become pregnant [at her age]. I think it would be super inspirational.”
Ward acted alongside McGee, who played Angela Moore, in Seasons 6 and 7 of the show.
McGee welcomed children during her time on the show and is the mother of Ramia, 31, Langston, 29, and Exra, 25, two of whom she shares with ex-husband Courtland Davis.
She has been married to Thedford for 16 years.
