Marquette Regional History Center educates Yoopers with budget grocery tips

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – A history center in Marquette is adding new activities for senior citizens.

The Marquette Regional History Center hosted its smart shopping event on Wednesday afternoon. The center’s Museum Educator Betsy Rutz said the main goal is to discuss tips on saving money while shopping in grocery stores. She also said the event had a registered dietitian from the Marquette Food Co-op.

“Shopping bulk and storing your produce so it doesn’t go bad after a little use, you can keep it for over a week, and she has all kinds of incredible tips and tricks, and this is all part of our history. We are what we eat, and this is all part of our history,” Rutz said.

The museum educator also says there were door prizes, including a $25 gift card for groceries at the co-op.

All staff said they want to thank everyone for the turnout.
