Winter Park business covers adoption fees during Orange County shelter dog’s pool party

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A Winter Park-based business has pledged to cover all adoption fees at a beloved shelter dog’s pool party this weekend.

The adoption event focuses on Siobhan, a dog who was brought to Orange County Animal Services on March 8 after being found injured. Though the shelter says Siobhan’s health and personality have improved and blossomed in the time since, she’s now officially continuing the longest-consecutive stay of any resident at OCAS.

“Siobhan, pronounced Shivawn, has been at the shelter now for 89 days. She is officially our longest consecutive resident. And we just don’t know why,” Diane Summers, manager for Orange County Animal Services, said in a statement. “During that time she has become a favorite of our staff and volunteers. We’ve done so much to highlight her, but sadly she hasn’t found her right person. We’re hoping by celebrating her birthday in style, we can match her with the home she deserves.”

Jackie Webb, of Winter Park-based Webb Engineering, is a long-time donor to the shelter, according to a news release. Webb’s civil engineering firm has partnered with the shelter to waive adoption fees for the public during Siobhan’s “Birthday Pool Party” event on Saturday, June 8, and further on Sunday, June 9.

During Saturday’s party, Siobhan will be in the shelter’s front play area to splash in wading pools and interact with guests. The shelter has seen success in holding such events before, pointing to the adoption of Gandalf the dog earlier this year during his sixth birthday party.

The event takes place during the shelter’s adoption hours, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
