Pat Sajak and Vanna White only had 1 argument in 40 years and it’s ridiculous

Pat Sajak and Vanna White have taped more than 8,000 “Wheel of Fortune” episodes together — and yet they’ve only had one argument in four decades.

Surprisingly, it had nothing to do with the ABC game show.

“Believe it or not, Pat Sajak and I have only had one argument in 36 years and that was over putting ketchup on a hot dog,” White told Fox News in 2019.

It turns out, Sajak only puts mustard on his hot dogs — which White deeply disagrees with. Her personal favorite condiments are both ketchup and mustard.

She quipped: “I agree it is [weird].”

The stars have not disclosed if they’ve had any other bickering exchanges since.

Sajak and White both renewed their contracts in 2018 through the 2022-23 season. Sajak announced his retirement in June 2023, and his final episode airing Friday will also mark the Season 41 finale. Ryan Seacrest will take over hosting duties for Season 42 in the fall.

White extended her contract through 2026 after news of Sajak leaving went public. According to TMZ, she was given a “substantial pay increase” after negotiations.

In December 2022, White gushed about their relationship with People. Through the years, the pair have faced romance rumors, but always alleged they stayed platonic.

“He is so funny. He really is,” she told the outlet at the time.

“We see each other every couple of weeks for a couple of days. It’s perfect,” the model continued. “Then we don’t see each other and then, we come back to work. And he is always making me laugh.”

“I think when [series creator] Merv Griffin chose both of us, 40 and 41 years ago, he saw something between us — a brother/sister-type relationship. I think that is kind of what it is,” she added. “He saw that we would be able to get along, I think. And we do. We are like a brother and sister team.”

The two have become so close that they can pinpoint when the other is having a rough day.

“It’s so funny. I can tell sometimes — and he can tell with me, without saying a word, ‘Oh, she’s in a bad mood. Oh, he’s in a bad mood. Don’t say anything to him now, just let him do his thing,’” she went on. “We speak each other’s language.”

Hours before his final episode, Sajak gave an emotional goodbye to viewers.

“Well, the time has come to say goodbye,” he began. “I have a few thanks and acknowledgments before I go, and I want to start with all of you watching out there. It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade.”

“And I’ve always felt like the privilege came with the responsibility to keep this daily half hour a safe place for family fun,” he went on. “No social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing I hope, just a game.”

“But gradually it became more than that,” he continued. “A place where kids learned their letters, where people from other countries honed their English skills, where families came together along with friends and neighbors, and entire generations.”

He concluded: “What an honor to play even a small part in all of that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”

Sajak’s final episode airs Friday, June 7, on ABC.
