Meet the 2024 Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State baseball team

Five players who led their teams to state baseball titles this spring were named Player of the Year in their respective classifications by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

The ASWA released its annual All-State baseball team Saturday morning.

State champions Braden Booth (Bob Jones, 7A), Jackson Henderson (Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, 6A), Myles Tyler (Ariton, 2A), Landon Shumate (Sumiton Christian, 1A) and Mason McCraine (Glenwood, AISA) all led their teams to championships.

The other players of the year were Jackson Sanders (Valley, 5A), Christian Chatterton (Brooks, 4A) and Miles Edwards (Lauderdale County, 3A). The ASWA selects a player of the year, hitter of the year, pitcher of the year and coach of the year in each of the seven AHSAA classifications as well as the AISA.

Mr. Baseball and the Super All-State team will be released Sunday night at the 52nd annual ASWA convention at Jacksonville State University. The annual banquet is sponsored this year by the Reese’s Senior Bowl and ALFA Insurance.
