Savannah Bananas had a bunch of fun at Fenway Park in Boston. Here’s what we saw
Saturday’s game at Fenway Park was absolutely bananas.
Thousands of fans tuned in or made the trip to Boston to watch the Savannah Bananas and Party Animals make their Banana Ball debut at Fenway Park, an evening of sports and entertainment akin to a Harlem Globetrotters game.
The opening of the game had a lot going on like a choreographed dance numbers with the Bananas and Party Animals, the mascot Split almost picking a fight with one of the Party Animals, some competitive batting.

During the game, it wasn’t uncommon to see the players dancing either individually or in groups to pump up the crowd. There were even a few moments where the umpire busted some moves. The Bananas also had an air-guitar and air-vocals performance of “More Than A Feeling” by Boston.
But for those who haven’t seen the Bananas and think this just sounds like a bunch of goofing off, no sweat. Just like any professional baseball game, bases were run, balls were sent flying into the stands, and players dove for catches. Although at least one went the extra mile, diving head-first into the stands for a catch.
In the stands, families were highlighted that came from hundreds and thousands of miles away to be at the game. One came from Alaska while another from Hawaii.
The final score was 4-1 with the Party Animals coming out on top. The Party Animals celebrated by throwing their shirts off and hugging each other before doing their victory dance. The Bananas joined them on the field, side-by-side, as the whole crowd sang along to a tuba-rendition of “Stand By Me.”
These were just some of the highlights of the night. Want to see it for yourself? The game is available to watch for free on the Savannah Bananas’ YouTube.
