Auburn travels to face Duke in SEC-ACC Challenge
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – For the third time in program history, Auburn will travel to Duke, but this time for a SEC-ACC Challenge matchup on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.
This is the second year of the SEC-ACC Challenge as the Tigers defeated Virginia Tech, 74-57, last season at Neville Arena.
Auburn previously played the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium in December of 1975 and December of 1981.
“It’s hard to put in perspective exactly what this opportunity means for our Auburn Basketball program,” head coach Bruce Pearl said. “To be selected by ESPN and our conference, to compete against one of the greatest programs in the history of college basketball, is tremendous recognition for where our program is at right now. It’s also a tremendous responsibility.
“I can no longer play the, ‘we don’t get any respect card,’ which I think we’ve earned by winning four conference championships over the last seven years. Personally, coaching in Cameron Indoor Stadium against head coach Jon Scheyer and the Duke Basketball program will be extremely meaningful to me. I know that it will be the same for our players and coaching staff.”
The Tigers and Blue Devils last met at the Maui Invitational in 2018. Duke leads 4-0 in the all-time series dating back to both programs’ first meeting at the Sugar Bowl Tournament in 1964.
