Brecksville Home Days promises fun and entertainment for all: Talk of the Towns

Brecksville, OH – The much-anticipated 2024 Home Days celebration will take place on the Square in Brecksville from Fri., June 21 through Sun., June 23. The festivities will kick off on Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., continue on Saturday from 3 to 11 p.m., and conclude on Sunday at 3 p.m. until after the fireworks that start at 10 p.m.

The Home Days Concert Series returns, promising non-stop music each night from 8 to 10 p.m. This year features two new bands, emphasizing why Brecksville is known as “The Home of The Hits!” Opening on Friday night is Silver Springs, an excellent Fleetwood Mac tribute band. On Saturday, a fresh act, Right Now: A Celebration of the Sammy Hagar Era of Van Halen, will electrify the stage. Sunday will transport attendees back to the ’70s with the Styx tribute band, Best of Times.For polka enthusiasts, the Wayne Tomsic band will perform on Saturday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Brecksville Theatre will take the stage on Saturday at 6 p.m., showcasing songs from “The Who’s Tommy” and “White Christmas” while announcing their 2025 season lineup. You don’t want to miss these fine vocalists and what’s coming up.

Thrilling rides will be available down Stadium Drive from Old Town Hall. Across from the rides, the MetroHealth helicopter will land and take off on Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m., weather and emergency calls permitting, offering a unique photo opportunity with the pilots.

For the young ones, the indoor “just for kids” area in the horticulture building, presented by the Recreation Department, will feature games and bounce houses from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

A variety of food vendors and food trucks will offer the best in street fare daily. The BBHHS Alumni Association will host a pancake breakfast with sausage on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon at the Horticulture Garage on Stadium Drive, ensuring pancakes will be served rain or shine.

Booth Row will feature Brecksville churches and organizations with fun activities and displays. Additionally, the 5K and one-mile Family Fun Run and Walk, presented by the Recreation Department and conducted by Hermes Sports and Events, will take place on Saturday morning.

Summer camps: North Coast Therapy Associates, a subsidiary of Achievement Centers for Children, is introducing four separate camps this summer. They are all one hour a week for six weeks – two are in June/July and two are July/August.

They are being led by the occupational and speech therapy team and are for younger ages – anywhere from 5 to 8 years old.

· Blooming Buddies – June 19 – July 24. A garden-themed group for children that places an emphasis on development of positive leisure interests.

· Nature Explorers – July 11 – Aug. 15. An outdoor sensory camp that supports growth and development through movement, sensory, and fine motor activities.

· Writing Wizards – July 10 – Aug. 14. A handwriting development group for children entering Kindergarten or 1st grade who struggle with writing.

· Craft Camp – July 11 – Aug. 15. Designed to help boost fine motor skills for 4 – 6-year olds using appropriate themes and play-based activities to help strengthen coloring, cutting and pasting skills.

Rib burnoff: The Strongsville City Club Rib Burnoff will run June 20-22, on the Commons, corner of Pearl and Royalton roads.

The event will include award-winning ribs from across the country and plenty of other foods. There will also be inflatables for the kids and live entertainment each evening.

On Fri., June 21, there will be a fireworks show at dusk. Hours are 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday; 3 p.m. to midnight on Friday; and noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $5, with kids 10 and under admitted free.

Entertainment includes: Follow the Sun at 6:30 p.m. Thursday; Boaterhead at 6:30 p.m. Friday and on Saturday, Muddy River Project from 1-3 p.m. and Billy Morris and the Sunset Strip at 6 p.m.

Beer Fest: The 1st Annual Broadview Heights Beer Fest will take place on Sat., July 27, from 1 – 5 p.m. at the outdoor Broadview Heights Amphitheater.This will be a day filled with delicious brews, food, and live music, all to benefit A Special Wish Foundation Northeast Ohio.

With a wide selection of beers from numerous local breweries, food trucks serving up tasty bites and fun games, this is an event you won’t want to miss. Grab your friends and come on down for a memorable day of beer tasting and entertainment.

The Beer Pass ticket is $50, plus fees. The Beer Pass ticket includes 15 beer pours. Guests will be provided with a cup and each beer pour will be 4 ounces. Guests must be 21+ to purchase a Beer Pass ticket – IDs will be checked at the entrance.

The Designated Driver ticket includes one non-alcoholic beverage – soda and water will be available at the registration table. All guests must have a ticket to enter the event.

No pets are allowed on the city grounds.

Youth theater: Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater presents its Summer Youth production, Junie B. Jones, the Musical.

It’s Junie B.’s first day of first grade, and a lot of things have changed for her. Junie’s friend, Lucille, doesn’t want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,” and first grade has never been more exciting.
