‘A celebration of small business’: Pink Friday shopping event coming to Northport
NORTHPORT, Ala. (WBRC) – Businesses in Northport are teaming up for a shopping event ahead of the holidays, hoping to get shoppers thinking about and spending money at small businesses.
23 businesses are partnering for the first-ever “Pink Friday” for the city.
They call it a community-centered shopping experience.
Small businesses like Gypsy River, a women’s apparel boutique, want Pink Friday to become an annual event in Northport.
The owner, Laura Parker, believes putting small businesses like hers in the forefront of the holiday shopping season is beneficial for businesses and shoppers.
Participating businesses are offering specials and discounts to attract shoppers ahead of Black Friday next week.
“Pink Friday is a celebration of small business,” Parker said. “You’re going to see a lot of events within each of our stores. And discounts or door busters. Each one will have its own special offering for Pink Friday. And also, the 23 businesses will be doing a giveaway, a drawing, for two $500 cash prizes. And that’s if you shop at five or more, make a purchase and fill out a passport card that we’re doing.”
Pink Friday starts Friday, November 22 and continues Saturday, November 23.
You can find those 23 participating businesses by joining the PINK FRIDAY 2024 Northport, Alabama Facebook group.
