A Gold Star Ranking Of The Golden Looks At The 2025 Globes
In some breaking news, the 2025 Golden Globes were, well, very golden. IDK if the Hollywood stylist crowd is collectively missing sunny summer days in Cannes, but the A-list’s first big night of award season followed one major color memo: gold.
“But it’s the Golden Globes of COURSE they’re wearing gold!!!!” I’m going to need anyone who said that thought out loud to go ahead and peruse 2024’s rosey red trend and then circle back. I love that cinema’s sister wives took the carpet to a place of gold because that’s the kind of energy we’re going to need to get through 2025: bold, bedazzled, and for the betches. In celebration of celebs daring to make the red carpet something Joan Rivers would tune into again, I’m ranking the golden looks at the 2025 Golden Globes.
Elle Fanning
I hate to give Sleeping Beauty the lowest grade here, but this custom Balmain is simply not working for me. It feels as disjointed as a mullet: elegance in the front, Jerseylicious in the back. I’ve def seen Elle do way better.
Kathryn Hahn
I would absolutely adore this horse-girl adjacent choice for an event like Texas Fashion Week or something.
Nikki Glaser
Nikki was undeniably hilarious, but she could easily loan this dress to a high schooler for prom 2025, I fear.
Brianna Chickenfry
I’m gonna keep it real with y’all: I had no idea who this woman was until her front page breakup from a country star whose lore I won’t internalize. That being said, this is a revenge dress if I ever saw one. I just wish it wasn’t so ill-fitting.
Anya Taylor-Joy
I love a little rose gold silk as a treat. But for our Argentinian princess, this is (her version) of phoning it in. I’m choosing peace and leaving the toes alone here.
Cate Blanchett
Big ups to our sustainability queen, but this medieval AF gown probs could’ve benefited from some new styling to make it pop from the last time she wore it.
Mindy Kaling
There’s nothing to dislike here, but it feels like I’ve also seen her in it a million times before, too.
Matty Matheson
This is a very light gold tone, right? Right?! I love the detailing, though he might’ve needed one more trip to the tailor. Plus, the pants could’ve surely used a second steam.
Quinta Brunson
This also might be a little bit of a cheat of the gold front, but hey, I make the rules here! This silhouette is basically made for Quinta. She’s serving super cute and elevated at the same time.
Kristen Bell
While the dress is swallowing KBell a little bit at the top of the corset, the structure and shimmer are GORG. I would’ve chosen different shoes, though.
Demi Moore
Also in love with the structure here. The gown flows like liquid metal, just like Demi’s iconic head of hair. Armani wins again!
Mikey Madison
For a second, I thought Mindy and Mikey were wearing the same dress in a different color, but it turns out Mikey’s masterpiece is Bottega Venetta. This deep, warm gold is simply stunning in sequin form.
Ariana Grande
Please, Ariana, keep digging in the Givenchy archives. The color was an homage to the yellow brick road and is such a fun twist from Ariana’s year of pink.
Leighton Meester
Everything about this gown is breathtaking, from the color to the draping to the mixed-metal styling. She’s married to Adam Brody, AND looks like this? Stay winning, Leighton.
Zendaya
I mean, does Zendaya’s spot as number one come as any surprise? She looks like an ethereal model posing for a luxurious jewelry brand photoshoot in every shot without trying. I hereby dub this shade Zendaya gold.
