A.J. Holloway Sports Complex renovations nearing completion

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – Dirt piles and tractors have been the sight at A.J. Holloway Sports Complex for some time, but some areas could be finished by the end of next week.

New sod on the soccer and football field is currently being laid down. That is projected to be completed by Aug. 2nd, but it has to sit a bit before teams can take the field. Soccer season in November will be the first teams on the turf.

The creation of a new parking lot near those fields will allow traffic to flow more easily after those busy games.

Puddles in the soccer field parking lot will no longer be an issue thanks to a drainage project that starts next week.

After all the games this complex has hosted over its 21 years, project managers say it’s time for a little refresh.

Biloxi Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Jamie Lee says, “We’re chomping at the bit just like the public are. We’re getting calls on it daily. We just keep trying to remind everybody just be patient with us because the end goal, I think it’s going to be special once it’s done for everybody.”

The project, worth $5 million, started at the end of last year.

While a finish date is not set, the work at the A.J. Holloway Sports Complex could be complete by the end of August.
