A Major New Gun Is Being Added In The Next ‘Escape From Tarkov’ Wipe
The next Escape From Tarkov wipe is still not here with no launch date confirmed, but the developers are still teasing new content with the latest post showing off a major new weapon that looks set to arrive in the coming days.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, game director Nikita Buyanov posted a picture of a screen that shows a Tarkov character holding what looks to be a Desert Eagle style pistol in the shooting range, a weapon that is not currently in the game. The post featured no text, but in recent weeks, Buyanov has been teasing new features that are expected to launch with the wipe.
We already know that there will be some new weapons arriving in the patch that comes with the wipe, with the likes of the M60 machine gun and Uzi SMG being shown off in the TarkovTV stream that announced the wipe. However, this looks like another addition coming with the latest patch, and it could prove to be divisive.
Typically pistols of this style in games are incredibly powerful, using large ammo and having a lot of recoil. Some games have made them kill players with just one shot, and something with that kind of power in Tarkov could prove to be problematic if cheaters manage to find a way to use it efficiently. However, as someone who basically never uses a pistol in Tarkov, this could be one that has enough power to make it worth using as a side arm in some situations.
This isn’t the first damage dealing item to have been teased in recent days, with Buyanov also teasing the addition of molotov cocktails alongside the new boss who is expected to have trip wires at his disposal. Alone none of these are major new features but new toys to play with are always welcome in Tarkov, and these certainly seem to be pretty fun additions.
We know a lot of things that will be coming in the new wipe, but what we don’t know is the release date. It was initially expected to launch last week, then we were told to wait for the end of wipe events to start but there is no sign of them yet, which isn’t a good sign, especially as this is already the longest wipe ever. August 15 still seems like a likely date for the wipe, but as each day passes with no news or events, a launch later in August looks more realistic.
