A New Sports Bar Brings Meat Pies and Sausage Rolls From Down Under to Portland

There’s a new sports bar in Portland to grab pints and bites from down under. Montavilla News reports that Dingo’s, a new Australian-themed sports pub, is now open on SE Stark. In the report, owner Brendan Jones says the opening was inspired by his Aussie roots and a recent trip back to the country. Before it became Dingo’s, the space used to host the Beats, Brats & Beer pop-up.

Dingo’s serves a menu of Australian classics like meat pies, sausage rolls, and sangers (sandwiches) like grilled cheese and prosciutto. Open all day, it will also offer coffee and tea in addition to wine, beer, and cocktails. Freshly baked cookies and affogatos are on hand in case avid sports-watching spurs a craving for something sweet. The pub hosts a handful of screens that show Australian and American sports, and the walls are decorated with scarves from Aussie teams like the Rabbitohs, a rugby team, and the Matilda’s, the national women’s soccer team.

Le Clown brings Parisian food to Måurice

Portland Monthly reports that the Parisian pop-up Le Clown will operate out of Måurice from September 11 to October 5. While Måurice chef Kristen D. Murray is on vacation, Le Clown’s John Denison will take over the kitchen and serve a mix of the restaurant’s classics blended with his own style. Denison’s wife and Le Clown’s pastry chef, Madeline, will be concocting pastries like a Paris-Brest to pair.

Alpenrausch and Pasar were recognized as part of Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurant 2024 lineup. Alpenrausch, operated by the team behind Olympia Provisions, is known for its Alpine cuisine, while Pasar is a Chinese-Indonesian restaurant that serves vibrant snack dishes inspired by marketplaces in Indonesia.
