A Survey Reveals That The Biggest Reason Why Customers Will Not Upgrade To Apple’s Upcoming iPhone 16 Lineup Is Because They Cannot Afford One

Apple is gearing up to launch its iPhone 16 lineup presumably on September 10, with the company’s allegedly leaked invite sporting the tagline ‘Ready. Set. Capture.’ While there are those anxiously waiting to either pre-order one of the four devices or lineup in long queues around the world, preparing to get their hands on the latest greatest, one survey reveals the other side of the coin. A segment of this survey asked 766 participants what would be the biggest reason for not upgrading to the iPhone 16 launching later this year, with the majority of them stating that they could not afford one.

The second biggest reason for not upgrading to the iPhone 16 is that customers prefer keeping their older model

An in-depth survey conducted by SellCell reveals the reasons why customers would and would not switch to any of the new iPhone 16 models. We scrolled down to the section that discussed the reasons why people will not be upgrading this year, and out of 766 respondents, 34.2 percent of them said that they could not afford one, making up the majority. The second biggest reason for not upgrading was that 34.1 percent of respondents said that they will be keeping their older model.

To be fair, if you are using an iPhone 13 or even an iPhone 12, and if it continues to work flawlessly when performing basic tasks expected from a smartphone, there is little reason to upgrade. As for the third biggest reason why customers will not upgrade, 12.8 percent of the survey’s participants replied that they were still under contract. Interestingly, 5.5 percent of individuals said that the features and specifications of the newer iPhone are always near-identical every year.

Typically, it is an excellent practice for consumers to stick to a 2-year upgrade cycle since that way, they get more value for their money by getting better hardware and features through a one-time purchase after 24 months. A minority of people believe that the iPhone 16 is not worth upgrading to this year, making up 3.3 percent of the total respondents who claim that they will wait for the iPhone 17, which is a darn good reason.

Apple has reportedly targeted a 90-million shipment figure of its upcoming models for this year, as the company likely anticipates high demand for its new lineup. Of course, customers will have various reasons for wanting to upgrade their year, and if you want to find out why, click on the source link below.
