The gambling scandal surrounding Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, will be headed to television.
Lionsgate is developing an all-new series based on the controversy, with Variety sharing that Scott Delman and Albert Chen are on board to produce.
The outlet added that no network or writer is currently attached to the planned series in its early stages.
On Wednesday, Mizuhara pleaded guilty to bank and tax fraud charges after he was alleged of stealing $16 million from Ohtani to pay off gambling debts that went upward of $40 million.
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” star Ryan Boyajian also emerged as a player in the scandal as an accomplice of Mizuhara’s this week.
With the onslaught of real-life scandals being turned into limited series, it only felt like a matter of time until the Mizuhara scandal got the T.V. treatment.
