AAA shares most desired travel destinations, costs for fall 2024

(WIFR) – Flights and cruises are in more demand this year domestically and internationally, according to AAA.

According to a report from AAA, domestic flight bookings increased by 1% and international bookings increased by 3%. Cruise bookings went up by 19% domestically and 6% internationally.

AAA says prices haven’t changed much from last year, with the average domestic flight costing $660 roundtrip, and international costing $1,315. Cruises cost an average of $2,355 for domestic and $3,560 for international.

Road trip costs are lower this year with the average gas price in Illinois at $3.47, 47 cents lower than last year. The cost to rent a car is also 5% lower domestically and 15% lower for international travel this year.

The most desired domestic travel location this year is Orlando, followed by Boston and Seattle. The most desired international location is Rome, followed by Paris and London.
