Accidental hydraulic line strike leads to machine fire at Warren business

WARREN, Mich. – An accidental hydraulic line strike caused a machine fire, which caused significant damage to a business in Warren.

The fire occurred on Thursday (May 16) at 11:30 p.m. at MPC Metallurgical Processing on Warner Avenue near East 9 Mile Road.

The employees promptly notified authorities about the machine fire, and the Warren Police Department arrived swiftly at the scene to ensure the safety of all.

The fire was brought under control while other crews worked to extinguish the partially on-fire roof.

The fire department personnel were on the scene for just over one hour, working to extinguish the fire.

A preliminary investigation into the cause and origin of the fire showed that a forklift operator at the business accidentally struck a hydraulic line inside the building.

The impact caused the hydraulic fluid to leak and spray on several surfaces, including an industrial machine that caught fire and traveled to the business’s roof.

There were no injuries to any employees or firefighters reported, but the building sustained moderate damage.
