Adriana Lima RETURNS to Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show after six-year retirement

Adriana Lima is making her triumphant return to the Victoria’s Secret catwalk.

And it comes six years after announcing her retirement from the fashion brand following a 20-year collaboration consisting of 18 of the famed VS shows.

The model and brand collaborated on a fun new video for the announcement of their new partnership that was shared on the Victoria’s Secret Instagram page on Monday.

Dressed in a classy dark suit, Lima can be seen hailing down a taxi in New York City in the clip, and then the driver asking, ‘Where too?’ just as she was getting in to the back seat.

‘Home’ Lima says while exuding a relaxed and content look on her face, ‘I’m going home.’ she added.

Adriana Lima, 43, announced she is returning to the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show after a six-year retirement from the brand

The longtime top model first signed on with the VS brand in 1999 and then earned her wings to become a coveted VS Angel the following year all the way through until 2018

Once situation in the backseat of the car the cab driver turns back to the 43-year-old Salvador, Bahia, Brazil native.

‘I don’t know where the f**k you live,’ the cabbie tells the longtime top fashion model with not-so-subtle New York City flare.

‘Oh, I’m sorry,’ she responded with a smile, all while looking slightly embarrassed. ‘Can you drop me off at the Victoria’s Secret show,’ she answered back.

At this point a funky bass and drum-heavy song kicks in, just before Lima looks straight towards the camera to proclaim: ‘I’m back.’

‘Hey, we’ve been keeping a secret, but we just can’t do it anymore!’ the video’s caption reads.

‘@adrianalima is returning to the runway—phew, it’s out there, we feel SO much better,’ the promo continues. ‘Tomorrow, livestream the Pink Carpet at 6:30PM ET and the show at 7PM ET on Prime Video or our YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram. Busy then? Watch it after (and as many times as you’d like) on our YouTube. #VSFashionShow.’

Lima’s collaboration with the lingerie and clothing retailer dates back to when she signed her first contract in 1999, walking her first Victoria’s Secret show later that year.

After working hard on her body and walk, while also taking some time to get familiar with the brand, the Brazilian beauty got elevated to Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2000, a title that’s given to models selected to represent the brand as its face and voice.

Lima proceeded to work in collaboration with VS through the years until she then suddenly announced her retirement from the brand in November 2018 after nearly two decades.

Just one year later, the fashion world was stunned when the annual VS fashion show, which originated back in 1995, was canceled in the wake of backlash over a lack of body diversity accusations.

But ultimately, the famed show made its comeback in 2021 after a two-year break with the launch of the VS Collective, which is aimed at pushing the brand more towards what women want.

Founded in 1977 by Roy and Gaye Raymond, Les Wexner bought the company and its five lingerie stores in 1982. Wexner would expand into American shopping malls, growing the company into 350 stores nationally with sales of $1 billion by the early 1990s, making it the largest lingerie retailer in the U.S.

After serving as a VS Angel from 2000 to 2018, Lima has the distinction of being the longest-running model, which includes being named ‘the most valuable Victoria’s Secret Angel’ in 2017.

Along with Victoria’s Secret, Lima is also best known for being the face of Maybelline cosmetics since 2003.

Since 2014, Lima has been the world’s second highest-paid model in the world.
