Aerologix and Soar Partner to Build the World’s Largest Digital Atlas
Collaboration combines drone imagery and mapping technology in a unified platform
Aerologix, an Australian drone technology company, has partnered with digital mapping platform Soar to create what they describe as the world’s largest library of high-quality drone imagery and maps. This collaboration aims to combine Aerologix’s network of over 36,000 professional drone pilots with Soar’s digital mapping infrastructure, offering users an integrated platform for drone imagery, satellite data, and maps.
“This partnership is a game-changer for the drone industry and mapping technology,” said Aerologix Co-founder and CEO Tom Caska. “By combining our extensive network of professional drone pilots with Soar’s powerful distribution platform, we’re creating unprecedented access to aerial imagery while opening new revenue streams for our pilot community. Together, we’re creating the new atlas of the world.”
Key Innovations for Drone and Mapping Technology
The collaboration introduces four main features aimed at enhancing the capabilities of drone imagery and mapping:
- Access to Aerologix’s Drone Imagery Library: Soar’s platform now includes Aerologix’s extensive collection of drone imagery.
- Revenue Opportunities for Drone Pilots: Professional pilots can distribute and monetize their content through Soar’s platform.
- Simplified Licensing for Businesses: Businesses can more easily find and license aerial imagery.
- Integration of AerologixMaps: AerologixMaps is now seamlessly connected to Soar’s global mapping resources.
These innovations are expected to simplify the process of accessing and using aerial and mapping data for a wide range of users.
Open-Access Mapping for a Wide Audience
Soar’s platform features nearly 700,000 maps and serves as a free, open-access resource. Contributors include major organizations like NASA, the European Union, and satellite imagery companies, as well as individual users. The platform supports diverse users such as students, citizen scientists, mining companies, and media outlets like the BBC, New York Times, and The Washington Post.
“What I love about Aerologix is that it’s not just a global solution, but also one with a vast network that offers incredible scalability,” said Soar Founder and CEO Amir Farhand. “The platform is designed for seamless interaction, and we are excited to partner and contribute to the end goal of building the world’s biggest atlas.”
Supporting Innovation and Growth
This partnership comes as Aerologix continues to expand globally, following its launch in New Zealand and its investment in advanced mapping technology. Aerologix is also part of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) digital sky platform. Its iOS and Android apps integrate CASA weather updates, location-based data, and flight zone maps, ensuring compliance and safety for drone operations.
The integration of Aerologix and Soar’s technologies sets a new benchmark for combining drone and mapping data into a single, accessible resource. This initiative not only offers practical solutions for businesses but also provides educational and creative opportunities for a global audience.
