AEW EVP Kenny Omega Returns At Worlds End In Dramatic Fashion [Video]

Kenny Omega is back in AEW!

Toward the closing stages of the show, Kazuchika Okada defeated Will Ospreay in a bloodied and violent match to retain his Continental Championship. Dropping Ospreay with the Rainmaker, and keeping him down for the three count, Okada stood victorious in the Continental Classic tournament.

However, while handing out the gold, Christopher Daniels declared himself as no longer an EVP of the promotion, before announcing Kenny Omega’s return. With the crowd erupting and his music playing, ‘The Cleaner’ walked out.

Introduced by Daniels to the crowd, Omega will now resume his role as an EVP. Returning dramatically and increasing the adrenaline of his fans, Omega presented Okada with the Continental Championship before quietly leaving.

The former World Champion had been sidelined since December 2023 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis and undergoing surgery. He was last seen on television on the May 1st episode of Dynamite when he was attacked by The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Jack Perry.

While not beginning his feud with Okada yet, the two instead shared an intense stare-down.

Omega will soon be traveling to Japan, where he is due to face Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, 2025.

Here Are The Reported Long-Term Plans Upon Kenny Omega’s Return

Addressing The Cleaner’s upcoming match against Gabe Kidd in Japan, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, reported on the long-term plans for Kenny Omega.

Kenny Omega’s first match back in well over a year is 1/5 at the Tokyo Dome against Gabe Kidd. It’s very interesting because Kidd works a very physical style and with the angle that set it up with a backstage fight, it has to be a high-intense brawl style match.

A lot of people brought up the idea of why Omega is doing his first match in New Japan, but the 1/5 show is a joint show with AEW and in a sense it’s considered the AEW debut show in Japan, where his return would mean the most.

But Omega does need to get going on U.S. television in a big way if he’s physically ready to work regularly. Right now he wants to take it slow before going back full-time with the idea of easing into a full-time schedule down the line and hoping everything holds up.”
