Aggies punch ticket to first-ever College World Series Finals

OMAHA, Nebraska (KBTX) – Behind another clutch performance from Texas A&M’s pitching staff, the Aggies beat Florida 6-0 to advance to their first College World Series Finals in program history.

Texas A&M is the only team still undefeated in the NCAA postseason. The Aggies will take on Tennessee in a best-of-three championship series with game one on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Justin Lamkin got the start on the mound and pitched 6.0 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and allowed three hits. Josh Stewart threw four strikeouts in 2.0 innings of relief.

The Aggies set a new program record for strikeouts in a season with 679 and counting.

Caden Sorrell blasted the Aggies’ first home run in Omaha this year on a 2-run shot in the top of the sixth inning.

Gavin Grahovac had his first multi-hit game this postseason and had an RBI double in the fifth inning.

Kaeden Kent continued his strong postseason performance with an RBI single in the ninth inning.

Florida starting pitcher Liam Peterson did not have a good outing, walking four batters in the top of the first and giving up two runs.

Ted Burton scored on a bases-loaded walk in the first inning. Also in the first, Sorrell hit a sac fly that scored Jace LaViolette.

Texas A&M will only play SEC teams in the 2024 Men’s College World Series. The Aggies beat Florida twice, and Kentucky. They will now take on Tennessee in the Finals.

This is the second year in a row to feature an all-SEC championship series, after LSU beat Florida last season.
