Airlines Begin Issuing Waivers For Winter Storm Blair

It’s that time of season when every word seems to be associated with one letter – W.

Words like winter. Weather. Warning. Waiver.

With a major snowstorm, dubbed Winter Storm Blair, forecasted for the Central and Great Plains over the weekend, airlines have begun issuing waivers to customers.

The biggest winter storm of the season could also move into the Mid-Atlantic region by Monday.

American Airlines has issued the most travel advisories, covering 46 airports across 16 states, and spanning 1,100 miles from Kansas to New Jersey. This alert covers flights in or out of impacted airports from Saturday to Monday, January 4-6. Passengers can rebook to travel by Thursday, January 9.

Perhaps not as comprehensively, but waivers are also being offered by Delta Air Lines, Spirit, JetBlue, Frontier and Southwest Airlines.

Customers should check with their respective airline to see what their re-booking policy is.

Predictions are for a storm to bring precipitation to Montana, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana and then move into the east.

As a reminder, working with a travel advisor when booking your trips can help alleviate some of the stress when issues like delays or cancellations arise. The same goes for making sure you always purchase travel insurance
