Akuma Arrives Fighting Pass revealed for Street Fighter 6, new Battle Hub mode coming

Whenever a new DLC comes to Street Fighter 6, we always get a lead up event, and it looks like Akuma is no different — though he’s bringing something extra with him.

Capcom just announced the Akuma Arrives Fighting Pass for SF6 that’ll be here in just a few hours along with the tease of a new mode.

As could be expected, the new pass contains a bunch of items themed around the demon with some avatar items players may actually be more interested in as well as the usual collection of other rewards like stickers and device backgrounds.

The premium rewards this time around include Akuma’s classic top knot hair, prayer beads, Cyber Akuma’s wings and the glowing ten / heaven kanji for the back of avatars.

Plus, Street Fighter Alpha 2 is the new arcade game made available to unlock, and a trio of Ultra Street Fighter 2 songs are featured too.

What’s perhaps most interesting of all, however, is the new Battle Hub mode dubbed Giant Attack, which is an obvious reference to Street Fighter 3: 2nd Impact’s other subtitle from 1997.

Capcom won’t say what exactly it is just yet, but there is a teaser at the end of the trailer showing a massive hologram of Akuma standing in the middle of the Battle Hub.

Some are speculating Giant Attack could be something like a powerful raid boss version of Akuma (and potentially other characters) that multiple players will need to team up against using their custom avatars.

We’ll have to wait a bit longer to see since the additional game type won’t arrive with the pass, but alongside Akuma himself later in the month.

The Akuma Arrives Fighting Pass is scheduled to go live tonight at midnight PT, May 1. They don’t say when it’s going to end yet, but it’s probably going to be shortly before Akuma actually releases on May 22.
