Alberta Ferretti will step down from her namesake brand, according to a Tuesday press release from the board of directors at holding company Aeffe Spa.

Ferretti, who has been the label’s creative director since founding the brand in 1980, will stay on in her position as vice president of Aeffe, and a successor will be named in the coming months, per the release.

“43 years have passed since my first fashion show,” Ferretti said in the release. “The enthusiasm and passion I have towards my work and towards fashion are unchanged, but I believe that at this point of my career it is a right and conscious choice to pave the way for a new creative chapter for the brand I founded and which will continue to bear my name.”

She added that she was happy and proud to leave “a legacy of elegance, femininity and concreteness” to her successor.

“I believe that the Alberta Ferretti brand will continue to be a point of reference for all those women who love everything that is sophisticated, refined and of great quality,” Ferretti said.

Meanwhile, Aeffe is planning “a careful and in-depth analysis of the roles and functions of the various departments,” the company said in the release, and intends to internally reorganize its human resources in an effort to be more efficient.

In addition to Ferretti’s label, Italy-based Aeffe also owns multiple footwear and leather goods brands including Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Moschino and Pollini. The company’s H1 revenues for fiscal 2024, reported in August, declined 14.6% year over year, which executive chairman Massimo Ferretti said in a statement was a “reflection of an extremely complex market situation.”
