Alexandra O’Neill Celebrates Cher’s Iconic Style With Markarian’s Resort 2025 Collection

Alexandra O’Neill furthered her strength in the eveningwear category with her Markarian resort 2025 collection, which offered playful, feminine styles that gave a nod to Cher’s iconic style.

“There’s a quote when Cher was being interviewed,” O’Neill said. “She was saying how her mom was like, ‘Cher you need to marry a rich man,’ and she’s like, ‘Mom, I am a rich man,’ which is one of my all-time favorite quotes, so we kind of started there. Cher in general is inspiring. She’s such a babe and I love her music.”

O’Neill looked to Cher’s style from the ‘70s for the resort collection, creating a disco vibe with pieces that focused on craft and embellishments. This came through the use of a “psychedelic wave print” in blue and brick red colorways presented through pieces like a jersey long-sleeve dress, a matching set with scalloped detailing and an oversize dress shirt.

The designer also continued her affinity for paillette details with several dresses in emerald green and burgundy that exuded an ultra-feminine and sophisticated vibe.

“Everything has this kind of holiday, festive edge to it without being too holiday and festive so you can kind of wear it whenever, wherever,” she said. “It translates to a lot of things. It’s nice because nowadays the pre-collections need to have that sense of longevity because it’s the longest selling period on the floor.”

O’Neill also offered new versions of bestsellers, such as an off-the-shoulder dress in a yellow brocade and a floral-print corset dress, which showed her knack for updating classic silhouettes. She rounded out the collection with several fun minidresses that offer customers whimsical options for the holiday season, such as a black dress with a simple bow detail and another black dress with chiffon sleeves.

Markarian’s resort 2025 collection offered fresh updates on core classics and fun, youthful styles for the holiday season, all of which showcase O’Neill’s strength in designing ultra-feminine evening pieces.
