Amazon rolls out waves of job openings in Pasco, check postings weekly

Already in Pasco this week, waves of jobs openings from the retail giant Amazon are rolling out. In total, representatives tell us it will bring well over a thousand local jobs to the area.

Communications leaders from Amazon say if you’re interested in applying to be on the lookout at the start of each weekend for new postings on their website.

Amazon Spokesperson, Leigh Anne Gullett, says. “We ramp up in waves. This time of the year because we’re getting ready, you’ll see new jobs posted probably every Friday or Saturday. Usually the best time to check would be Saturday mornings, or if you’re really anxious, you can register to get notified when they get posted.”

We’re told the facilities in Pasco have been reworked from their original purposes for what leaders are calling the fulfillment center for its fulfillment centers or an Inbound Cross Dock. “It’s a place where we’re taking inventory coming in from different vendors, a lot of time from our small and medium sized businesses here in Washington. We are sending that out to various fulfillment centers to make it available to customers for shopping. It’s a very cool part of our system, that’s not as well known, but has a lot of jobs coming. We’re excited to bring that to Pasco.” Gullet, continues.

Expansion was originally slated in 2022 but leaders tell us the delay was due to internal restructuring.

“In the last couple of years, we shifted to what we call a regionalization model in operations. In the past, you could have ordered something from Amazon, and depending, it could have been shipped to you from anywhere in our fulfillment network. Now we are trying to stage more of our product closer to our customers. So that more things are in the pacific northwest if you’re ordering from the Pacific Northwest. To do that, we’ve had to be very thoughtful about what we have, and where in our operations footprint.” Leigh Anne Gullett, tells us. “During the pandemic, when you saw massive growth throughout our operations, through customers and everything, it was really about meeting those growth needs for customers. Now it’s more about being very thoughtful about our footprint, and how we’re serving in the best way for the customers, in a way that’s more sustainable, and is much more environmentally friendly, because we’re traveling a much shorter distance in our supply chain.”

While limited information is available in its early stages, we’re told a delivery station is also coming to Pasco in the near future.

Amazon leaders tell us a lot of these jobs are entry level, but all have the opportunity for career growth for employees.

“Once you’re in the building, not only are you getting health benefits from day one, but on top of that, after 90 days, you’re eligible for our career choice program, we have upscaling programs, we have college tuition programs where we’ll help you get an education. If you want to do a certificate program, if you want to do an EMT program, there’s so many different options, a bachelors degree, an associates degree. It’s exciting to see people come in and really find a way to realize their dreams or follow some career paths that they can do with our help. ” Gullett, says.
