Amer Sports joins Ellen MacArthur Foundation to advance circular economy
The future of sustainable sports and outdoor industry is circular. At Amer Sports, we are committed to driving the change towards a circular economy — one that eliminates waste and pollution, circulates products and materials, and regenerates nature.
Collaboration plays a crucial role in advancing the circular economy. That’s why we are proud to announce that we have officially become a Network Member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an international charity that develops and promotes the circular economy to tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time, including climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution.
“Sustainability and sport are inherently intertwined, with each step and stride echoing the impact on our planet. Embracing circular design and business models isn’t just about scoring environmental points — it’s about safeguarding both people and the planet and recognizing that our actions today determine the game plan for future generations,” says Nikki De La Cruz, Director of Global Sustainability at Wilson, who also leads our relationship with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
By joining the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Network, we enter a vibrant ecosystem of industry leaders, innovators, government bodies, and regions, all united by a shared goal of accelerating the global transition to a circular economy and addressing common challenges.
“By collaborating with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and our Network peers, we aim not only to be a Network Member but a true partner in advancing circularity within the sporting goods industry,” says De La Cruz.
Arc’teryx participates in Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s The Fashion ReModel project
Additionally, Arc’teryx has announced its involvement in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s The Fashion ReModel. This global apparel industry project aims to identify solutions and overcome barriers to scaling circular business models.
The Fashion ReModel works with industry frontrunners from high street and luxury brands, as well as other sector leaders, to make circular business models the norm and drive sustainability and innovation in the fashion sector. Arc’teryx is among the first participants in this Foundation-led project.
“Arc’teryx is committed to a circular future, building products to last and equipping our guests with the tools and education to keep their gear in play. We’re excited to be one of the first participants to join the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s demonstration project, The Fashion ReModel, to reimagine circularity for the outdoor industry, rethinking the way we approach design and waste to build a future in which everything we create can be given a second life,” says Dominique Showers, Vice President, ReBIRD™ at Arc’teryx.
Participating in The Fashion ReModel represents a significant leap forward for Arc’teryx toward its recently announced climate targets and commitment to becoming a net-zero company by 2050 or sooner.
