An early look at gambling futures for the 2024 Miami Hurricanes

The month of May is here and that means summer is right around the corner.

And for college football fans, that means the season draws near—which also means it is about time to take a gander at college football futures bets.

The folks at DraftKings Sportsbook features plenty of futures action from a Miami standpoint, including single game betting lines, futures bets on conference winners, regular season over/under win totals, Heisman future odds, and more.

According to the early line from DraftKings, Miami is a two point favorite over Florida for the season opener in The Swamp.

Miami owns the all-time series against Florida, 29-27, with the last game going to the Gators in a 24-20 win in a season opener in Orlando. The Hurricanes won 21-16 at Hard Rock Stadium in 2013. Florida won the last match-up in Gainesville, in 2008, 26-3.

The next game on UM’s schedule that is listed on DraftKings is the Friday night match-up against Virginia Tech on September 27th. The Hurricanes are a nine point favorite over the Hokies that night.

Miami and Virginia Tech, former Big East rivals, did not play each other in 2023, but the ACC remedied that after the additions of Cal, Stanford, and SMU. UM has won three straight over Virginia Tech and five of the last six. Virginia Tech beat Miami in 2019, 42-35, at Hard Rock Stadium.

On October 19th, Miami is scheduled to take on Louisville with DraftKings listing the Hurricanes as a one point underdog on the road.

Louisville topped Miami, 38-31, at Hard Rock Stadium last season. Miami owns the all-time series, 11-4, but since 2000, UM is 3-4 against Louisville.

UM will play host to its biggest rival on Saturday, October 26th with Florida State coming down to Hard Rock Stadium. Miami is currently listed as a 1.5 point underdog to the Seminoles.

Florida State won the 2023 match-up, 27-20, marking a three-game winning streak. This is a series that goes in runs. From 2010-16, FSU won seven games in a row. Miami won four games against FSU from 2017-2020.

All of this is to say Miami is favored in two of its match-ups against the four toughest opponents on the schedule, Florida and Virginia Tech. The Hurricanes are narrow underdogs in the other two, against Louisville and Florida State.

Can the Hurricanes win the ACC for the first time since joining the conference in 2004? DraftKings has Miami at the third best odds to do it at +450, trailing Florida State (+275) and Clemson (+280).

The College Football Playoff expands to 12 teams for the first time in its history this season. Can Miami be one of the 12 teams to earn a spot into postseason play? DraftKings puts the odds at +275.

The following 17 teams have better odds to make the 12 team College Football Playoff: Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon,  Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama, Clemson, Tennessee, Florida State, Missouri, Texas A&M, Kansas State, and Utah.

Miami currently stands at a +6000 to win the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, which ranks 19th amongst all the teams. Georgia has +320 odds to win the National Championship.

DraftKings puts Miami’s over/under regular season win total bet at nine games. The sportsbook has the over nine wins at -105 and the under at -115.

In Heisman Trophy futures, Miami quarterback Cam Ward has +2500 odds, which is currently the tenth best odds in the country. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck claim the best odds at this stage at +900.

New running back transfer addition Damien Martinez is listed at +10000 odds for the Heisman while UM back-up quarterback Reese Poffenbarger has +15000 odds.
