Animals in Art

LSU Vet Med is showing its International Exhibition on Animals in Art through June 2 in the LSU Vet Med Library. The show is free and open to the public every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sixty entries representing 55 artists have been selected for the exhibition. A Best of Show award will be given, and one entry will be chosen to appear on the cover of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. A 20% commission on each piece sold will benefit LSU Vet Med programs.

At Ann Connelly

Ann Connelly Fine Art, 1670 Lobdell Ave., is showing work by Ryan Cobourn. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Admission is free. Visit annconnelly.com.

At Elizabethan Gallery

The Elizabethan Gallery’s Spring Show, “Connecting Colors,” is showing at the gallery, 680 Jefferson Highway. Artists were asked to do a variety of subject matter but connect the palette throughout their series.

Featured artists are Carol Hallock, Keith Douglas, Betty Efferson, Carol Creel, Dana Mosby, Krista Roche, Kathy Daigle, Kay Lusk, Nancy Smitherman, Lynn McDowell and Muriel Prejean.

Admission is free. Gallery hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call (225) 924-6437.

‘Little Mermaid’

Tickets are on sale for Playmakers of Baton Rouge’s production of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.,” opening May 31, in the Reilly Theatre, Tower Drive, LSU campus. Tickets are $20-$30 by visiting playmakersbr.org

At BellyFire Studios

Registration is open for BellyFire Studios’ kids’ summer pottery camps at the studios, 257 Lee Drive. The program will encompass 10 weeks of ceramic project-based, themed camps, covering such techniques as hand-building, sculpture and wheel throwing. Discounts are available for siblings and multiple sessions.

‘Little Shop of Horrors’

Tickets are on sale for Sullivan Theater’s production of its first summer musical, “Little Shop of Horrors,” opening Friday, May 31, at the theater, 8849 Sullivan Road in Central. Tickets are $30 by visiting sullivantheater.com/tickets.

Choir camp

Registration is open for the Greater Baton Rouge Children’s Choir’s Forte Fun Choir Camp Taking from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, to Friday, July 12, at First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, 529 Convention St. During the camp, participants will engage in a variety of activities including vocal pedagogy, technique, rhythm skills, basic musicianship, musical theater pieces, bell ringing and instrument playing.

At the Hilliard

The Hilliard Art Museum, 298 Gerard Park Drive, Lafayette, is showing “Sitting with George Rodrigue” through July 13, “Every|Where: Beili Liu through Aug. 17, “Fundamento de Palo Monte: Ana Mendieta” through Sept. 14, “Bending Lines: Robert Wiggs” through Sept. 28 and “Great Artists: Lafayette Parish School System Talented Visual Art Showcase” through Aug. 24.

At NUNU

Tickets are on sale for a concert by Cajun Americana singer/songwriter Dustin Dale Gaspard at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at NUNU Arts and Culture Collective, 1510 Bayou Courtableau Highway, Arnaudville. Tickets are $20 by visiting nunucollective.org.

Also, NUNU will host a free guided tour with artist Camille Farrah Lenain through her exhibit, “Sisters of the Hunt/Soeurs de la Chasse,” from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 17. The tour will be followed by a screening of the documentary “The Waiting,” with a panel discussion from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Finally, the collective will host another gallery tour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, May 19.

Iberia Performing Arts League

Auditions for the Iberia Performing Arts League’s production of its fall musical, “The Addams Family,” will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the theater, 126 Iberia St., New Iberia. For more information, email mjprudhomme@usa.com or visit ipaltheater.com.
