Baltimore Police are gearing up for another busy summer weekend across the City’s entertainment districts.

For weeks BPD has beefed up patrols and resources in Fells Point after some area business owners pleaded for the City to better control large, and at times unruly crowds as well as public drinking.

The City placed signs throughout the area, informing people of the juvenile curfew hours, as well as that open alcoholic beverage containers are prohibited.

Just this past weekend BPD says officers found a loaded gun and magazine on a man as he walked among the crowds of people in the historic district.

No other issues were reported.

Two weekends ago there were three incidents of gun violence including surveillance video that captured a man firing a gun towards Broadway Square, the shooting of a 16-year-old girl, and shots fired near the intersection of Fleet and Caroline streets.

No arrests have been reported of those incidents.

This past weekend BPD said officers issued five citations, including three for open container violations.

People and police are hopeful for a peaceful weekend.

So far one incident was reported Thursday night.

According to dispatch audio a woman called 911 and reported her boyfriend was assaulting her inside a restaurant on Aliceanna Street. It’s unclear if any arrests were made.
