Apple Inc. is advancing the global presence of its high-end mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro. The company’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing announced that the product will soon be available in the United Arab Emirates and South Korea. Initially launched in the United States earlier this year, the device is now available in 12 countries, including China, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
The Apple Vision Pro marks Apple’s first venture into spatial computing, delivering a mixed reality experience combining augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Despite its potential as a precursor to future AR devices from Apple, the product faces challenges due to its high price and limited content ecosystem, resulting in less-than-ideal global sales figures.
Reports suggest that production is slowing due to stockpile surpluses, and a second-generation or more affordable model is not expected until 2026. The device is powered by Apple’s M2 and R1 chips and features high-resolution Micro-OLED displays, offering wide color gamut, HDR, and low-latency experiences. It boasts interactive features such as eye and facial tracking, gesture control, and seamless integration with Mac computers, enhancing productivity.
Despite these market challenges, Apple remains committed to expanding the Apple Vision Pro’s reach. The company’s ongoing efforts to refine its product line and adjust market strategies aim to introduce more consumers to this groundbreaking spatial computing device. Additionally, Apple is also exploring the development of lighter, more affordable headsets to cater to a broader market base.
