After nearly a two-year hiatus, Apple just released their new Mac Mini desktop computer. And because it was such a long time between models, the tech company leapfrogged over an entire processor generation — going from M2 and M2 Pro to M4 and M4 Pro in a single upgrade cycle.
Starting at $564, the new Apple Mac Mini, which comes in silver, is available to buy at Walmart, Amazon and Apple.com starting on Friday, Nov. 8.
The Mac Mini M4 is tiny, as it comes in at just 5 inches by 5 inches, while it also 2 inches in height. The small personal computer is also lightweight with the M4 model coming in at just 1.5 pounds and the M4 Pro model at 1.6 pounds.
On its front, it comes with two USB-C ports and a standard headphone jack. And around back, each model features a power source, Ethernet port, an HDMI port and three USB-C ports.
However, the center USB-C port is a Lightning 4 port on the M4 model, while it’s a Lightning 5 port on the M4 Pro. This means reading and writing speeds are faster on the pro model at up to 120Gb/s instead of 40Gb/s on the entry-level model.
The models also differ in storage size ranging from 256GB to a whopping 8TB, while memory is also different, as it ranges from 16GB to 64GB. Learn more about the Apple Mac Mini’s spec sheet here.
