Apple (AAPL, Financial) has been testing a new application aimed at helping individuals with pre-diabetes manage their dietary intake and lifestyle. However, the testing of this application has been paused as Apple shifts its focus to other health-related features. This move is part of Apple’s broader initiative to enhance its health technology offerings.
Earlier this year, the company conducted tests on a select group of employees as part of an effort to expand the blood sugar monitoring capabilities of their applications. Although there are no current plans to launch the app, Apple might integrate this technology into future health products. This could include a non-invasive blood glucose tracker that the company has been developing for over a decade.
Employees involved in the testing underwent blood tests to determine their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. As part of the trial, they used various market-available devices for active blood glucose monitoring, documenting changes in glucose levels caused by food intake.
