Apple Fitness+ Is Launching 4 New Programs in 2025 — Here’s What To Expect
The new year can be a crowded time for fitness. Whether it’s gym or at-home workouts, there may seem like an overwhelming amount of options. When selecting a new workout routine, it’s important to consider your interests and the amount of time you want to invest. Perhaps most importantly, you want safe, effective, and motivating content. As a fitness video director for nearly 10 years for PS Fit, I’ve had the opportunity to try out dozens of online fitness programs, and Apple Fitness+ ($10 per month or $80 per year) is the one I consistently recommend. With an extensive library of fitness and wellness content, from HIIT to yoga and meditation, they also add new content weekly.
This year, Fitness+ is launching its biggest lineup of programming yet. As Julz Arney, Senior Director of Fitness Technologies and Fitness+ at Apple, tells PS, “We’re celebrating the new year but we’re also celebrating four years. This year we have our biggest drop ever.” So what can users expect? Arney explains that they made sure there is something for everyone, whether you’re going to “crush it on the pickleball court, make strength training a habit, deepen yoga practice, or breathe.” These launches are here to inspire you to commit to your wellness this year. Keep reading to learn about the Fitness+ 2025 new programs launching Monday, Jan. 6, on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
What Is Fitness+ Three Perfect Weeks of Strength?
If you’re looking for a routine to build the habit of strength training, the Fitness+ team has created Three Perfect Weeks of Strength with you in mind. These total-body workouts are designed to guide users through the process of building and maintaining strength. There is also a focus on efficiency. Each week has four workouts, because rest days are essential. So why three weeks? As Arney says, “Three weeks is manageable, it’s not an entire month but long enough to feel like you’ve made progress.” Each 30-minute workout is designed so you feel compelled to do the next one. The breakdown of this plan includes Week One: Progressive Overload, Week Two: Time Under Tension, and Week 3: Dynamic Power. These foundational workouts are ones that users can return to, increasing weights as they grow stronger.
What Is Fitness+ Yoga Peak Poses?
Yoga Peak Poses is a new workshop-style yoga program focused on the skills needed for popular poses. Each of the three sessions focuses on one of the following poses: Dancer, Twisted Hand to Big Toe, and Crow. I had the opportunity to learn more about this program during a tour of the Fintess+ studio, and asked the video trainers Jonelle Lewis and Dice lida-Klein about their experience working towards Crow pose. Klein told me, “You’re always mastering poses. It’s a never-ending journey of trying to improve and see where you can elevate your postural practice.” The attention to form and education is pivotal for gaining the ability to do these more advanced postures. As Lewis shares, learning to do Crow involved working on her confidence and “getting past that fear of flying.” Gaining the strength and confidence to do Crow is a goal for me for 2025, so I’m excited to try this program.
What is Apple Fitness+ Introduction to Breath Meditation?
Breath meditation is known for helping to manage stress, but it can also help to boost energy and enhance focus. The Introduction to Breath Meditation program includes five 10-minute meditations — like belly, box, and ocean breathing. “There’s a lot of mystery around breath work, so we wanted to make it accessible, and there are some easy techniques you can do to feel relaxed or at ease, even energized and ready for your day,” Arney says. Your breath is always with you, so these skills can be applied in real life anytime a user wants to relax, recharge, or focus.
What is Apple Fitness+ Strength, Endurance, and Agility For Pickleball?
For all of the Pickleball fans, the Strength, Endurance, and Agility for Pickleball program is designed to help users perform their best on the court. Featuring professional pickleball champion Catherine Parenteau, it includes a mix of exercises inspired by her training regime. “Fitness+ has a legacy now of bringing programs to the service that help you train for the thing you love to do,” Arney says. “Whether you’re a runner and want to do yoga for runners or work on the fitness you need to enjoy your golf game, we have those programs.” Expect lateral movements and rotations that will leave the user ready to ace their next match.
What I Love About Apple Fitness+
What separates Fitness+ from other platforms? Their commitment to inclusivity. As Arney emphasizes, “Fitness+ has always aspired to be the most welcoming and inclusive wellness program on the planet.” This is exactly how I feel when I turn on an Fitness+ workout. Throughout the various stages of my fitness journey, Fitness+ has always greeted me warmly and met me where I’m at. When I felt intimidated to work out while pregnant, I committed to a program called the “Stay Active During Pregnancy” program with Betina Gozo. As I embarked on a postpartum fitness journey to regain strength, the “Get Back To Fitness After Having a Baby” allowed me to build up my strength in a manageable and safe way.
As former PS staff writer Jenny Sugar emphasizes in her review of Fitness+, “It helped me branch away from my usual workout routine, and trying something new helped spark my motivation to work out more.” You might find yourself intrigued to try the new Dance Workout Professional series with “So You Think You Can Dance” all-star Alex Wong, which requires no dance background.
The fitness+ Artist Spotlight series is another element I love. This year, you can expect content featuring Janet Jackson (starting Jan. 13), Coldplay (starting Jan. 20), Bruno Mars (starting Jan. 27), and Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show headliner Kendrick Lamar (starting Feb. 3). There’s so much to try on Fitness+, so here’s to being excited about movement this year.
