Apple Intelligence release date outed, new hardware is coming too

Apple launched iOS 18 last month without its headline set of features dubbed Apple Intelligence. So now we’re left waiting for iOS 18.1, where the first batch of Apple Intelligence stuff will finally make its debut – though far from everything that Apple unveiled as far back as June at its developer conference. A lot of features will be pushed into 2025, for what it’s worth.

Still, it will be quite exciting when the first few Apple Intelligence tidbits arrive, and according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, that will happen on October 28, when iOS 18.1 is set to be released (along with iPadOS 18.1, presumably).

Gurman says Apple is taking its sweet time with the rollout in order to ensure that major bugs are eliminated and that it can support all the new traffic on its AI cloud servers. Apple knows everyone with a compatible device will immediately start testing the new features, and the spotlight will be on its delivery, so hopefully it all goes well.

On November 1, Apple is rumored to release a low-end 14″ MacBook Pro with M4 chip, high-end 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros with M4 chips, a revamped Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chips, a refreshed iMac with an M4 chip, and a refreshed iPad mini. The announcement for all of these devices should come a few days earlier, in late October.

Then, in the first half of 2025, Apple will release 13″ and 15″ MacBook Air models with M4 chips, the new iPhone SE, refreshed 11″ and 13″ iPad Air models with new Magic Keyboards, and an upgraded AirTag.
