Apple iPhone 16 Release Date: New Event Page Goes Live With Cool Animation

The next big release from Apple is upon us. We can expect to see four new iPhones, two, or possibly three, new Apple Watches and perhaps AirPods fourth-generation go on sale next month. Before the release comes the event announcement—full details here—on Monday, September 9. Apple has now revealed more details.

First up, it has updated the events page on apple.com to confirm when the keynote that unveils the new products will take place, snappily referring to it with an imploring call to “Watch on 9/9 at 10 a.m. PT.”

The new page also now reveals how you can watch. No surprise here: “Tune in at apple.com or on the Apple TV app.” That’s standard stuff. There’s also a button marked Add to your calendar so it can download the timing of the event and you can save it.

But the most eye-catching thing on the page is the animation, a swirling, glowing Apple logo that expands and contracts. It looks great and fits with the strapline of the invite: “It’s Glowtime.”

What does this mean, well as Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman posted on X, “Apple event invite is a clear nod to the new Siri UI for Apple Intelligence—which will obviously be available on all new iPhone models and a key selling point.”

You can see the same animation in Greg Joswiak’s X post. Joz as he’s universally known, is Apple’s Senior Vice President for Marketing. He posted on X, “We’re glowing with excitement!”

Note that he posted this seconds after the invites went out and there’s no hashmoji yet. That’s the cute little icon that appears after #AppleEvent. Last year’s was a faithful representation of the Apple logo on the invite which symbolized the titanium coming to the iPhone 15 Pro in several colors. Maybe the hashmoji will follow.

The colors in this year’s animation are likely to refer at least in part to what the iPhone 16 series will look like. Blue, yellow, white, pink and black are all evident and that corresponds to what some reports have said the iPhones will look like. If more details appear, we’ll be covering them.
