GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The Joust

MEQUON – Appleton North finished with a 4-3 record in the two-day, 24-team tournament.

The Lightning beat Kettle Moraine Lutheran 25-15, 18-25, 15-10, Howards Grove 25-18, 25-22, St. Thomas More 25-16, 25-22 and Lakeside Lutheran 25-19, 25-23.

Appleton North lost to Franklin, Slinger and Menomonee Falls.

“Our girls improved with each set. This team is so fun to coach and plays with passion every single point,” North coach Steve Scheuerell said.

Teegan Charapata had 80 kills, 53 digs and eight aces for North. Lydia Koshuta had 83 assists, 33 digs and six aces. Hannah Moua had 63 assists, six aces and 13 digs.

Other leaders for Appleton North were Chloe North with 50 digs and 11 aces, Kayden Lamon with 34 kills and four blocks, JJ Brozek with 10 kills and nine blocks, Ariel Xiong with 17 digs, Gracie Hartjes with five kills and six blocks, Alivia Barker with eight kills, and Ellis Brinkman with eight kills and six aces.

Xavier finished 14th with a 3-4 record. The Hawks beat Lake Country Lutheran, Waukesha West and Brookfield East.

Madison Daley had 43 kills, 23 digs and six aces for Xavier. Ali Tylinski had 31 kills, 18 digs and five aces.

Sydney Neilitz added 13 aces and 113 assists, Rose Kendall had 18 kills and six blocks, Elle Downs had 16 kills and 12 blocks, Lexi Allen had 14 kills and six blocks, Jena Bunks had six aces and 19 digs, Grace Hackl had 72 digs and Lily Renz had seven aces.

Beast of the Northeast

GRAND CHUTE – Luxemburg-Casco had a 7-0 record and took first place at the 32-team tournament at the Community First Champion Center.

The Spartans beat Fox Valley Lutheran 25-19, 25-17 in the semifinals and beat Bay Port 25-19, 25-21 in the championship match.

“It was a great way to start the season,” Luxemburg-Casco coach Jeff Frey said. “I thought we did a lot of really good things over the two days, and our offense was so spread out. I loved the growth we showed from Day 1 to Day 2.”

Ella Vander Velden had 45 kills, 33 digs and 17 aces for the Spartans. Alayna Deprez had 151 assists and 44 digs, Aubrey Frey had 53 kills and 49 digs, Ryan Kaminski had 71 digs and 11 aces, and Cami Onell had 41 kills and 14 aces.

Fox Valley Lutheran finished with a 4-2 record.

FVL had wins over Sheboygan Falls and Pulaski and lost to West Salem in pool play. The Foxes then beat New Berlin West and Notre Dame before losing to Luxemburg-Casco.

Molly Bixby had 10 aces, 57 assists and 18 digs. Ava Patchett had seven aces, 43 assists and 28 digs.

Riley Schmitz added six aces and 89 digs, Hannah Uhlenbrauck had 26 kills, Greta Nolte had 20 kills, Sophia Wunderlich had 19 kills, and Brianna Stwerart, Ellie Hayes and Hannah Draeger each had 14 kills.

Omro Invitational

OMRO – St. Mary Catholic had a 4-1 record and finished in second place.

In pool play, the Zephyrs defeated Wautoma 25-21, 25-17, beat Green Bay West 25-9, 25-10 and beat Omro 25-18, 25-18. SMC beat Wild Rose 25-18, 25-11 in the semifinals before Bonduel beat the Zephyrs 21-25, 25-21, 16-14 in the finals.

Eliana Brenn had 24 kills, nine aces and seven blocks for SMC. Autumn Crowe had 22 kills, Kate Nackers had 12 kills, Luci Nackers had 12 kills and 24 digs, Ava Rankin had 22 digs, Sammi Weiss had 46 assists, and Stella Virlee added 41 assists and six aces.

Reedsville Invite

REEDSVILLE – Algoma finished with a 2-1 record, beating Mishicot 25-17, 25-27, 15-9 and Roncalli 25-21, 25-9. Marshfield beat Algoma 25-11, 25-23.

Jadyn Nellis had 10 aces, 12 digs and five kills for Algoma. Olivia Cabino added 15 digs, MyLee Jones had 15 digs, 13 aces and 12 kills, and Maisen Luedke had 14 digs, nine aces, 15 assists and four kills.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Kettle Moraine Invite

WALES – Kimberly finished with a 2-2 record at the 24-team tournament.

Kimberly beat Brookfield Central 25-16, 25-23 and beat Wauwatosa East 25-17, 27-25.

Cedarburg beat the Papermakers 25-22, 25-20 and Marquette beat Kimberly 23-25, 25-18, 15-13.

Blake Zielinski had 78 assists, seven kills and 17 digs for Kimberly. Cooper Baade had eight kills, Tyler Haase had 10 kills and five blocks, Jack Hruzek had 82 digs, Ian Van Hammond had seven aces and 19 digs, and Alejandro Pagan Vega had 12 kills.

Alex Krause added 24 kills and 36 digs for Kimberly. Owen Krause had 45 digs and nine kills. Michael Janssen had 15 kills and seven blocks.

BOYS SOCCER

Green Bay Preble 1, Appleton North 1

GREEN BAY – Yosef Navarro scored the game-tying goal with 49 seconds remaining as the Hornets tied the Lightning.

Griffin Schroeder scored in the first half for Appleton North.

Preble outscored the Lightning 20-6.

North goalie Ben Wilke made nine saves. Preble goalie Landin Gauthier had three saves.
