MANITOWOC – The Bluejays improved to 4-1 in the Fox River Classic Conference-South to become playoff eligible with the victory over the Ships.

Jaydon Lanser caught two touchdown passes from Logan Liegl in the first half for Menasha.

Elijah Gigl ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries for the Bluejays, who are 4-3 overall and play at home against Sheboygan South on Friday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Madison Memorial Invite

MADISON – Kimberly had a 5-0 record and took first place at the 15-team tournament. The Papermakers are 28-5 this season.

Kimberly beat Fort Atkinson 25-14, 25-17, beat Waukesha North/South 25-17, 25-21, beat Madison Memorial 25-18, 25-20, beat Neenah 25-16, 25-14, and beat Homestead 25-14, 21-25, 15-6.

Owen Krause had 28 kills and six aces, Tyler Haase had 22 kills and five aces, and Michael Janssen had 20 kills and seven blocks for Kimberly. Blake Zielinski added 92 assists, Alex Krause had 14 kills and four aces, Jack Hruzek had 36 digs, and Nick Sroda had 10 kills and five blocks.

Appleton North finished with a 3-1 record. The Lightning beat Waterford 25-13, 25-14, beat Sun Prairie 25-16, 25-19, and beat Union Grove 25-12, 25-16.

Homestead beat the Lightning 19-25, 25-18, 16-14.

Nathan Ramus had 54 kills and 15 digs for North. Landon Kue had 34 digs, Owen Tierney had 24 kills, Sam Kuehl had 20 kills, Spencer Munson had 46 assists, Saolai Thao had 53 assists and Charlie Fanning had 12 digs.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Oshkosh North Invite

OSHKOSH – Laconia took first place at the tournament, while Green Bay NEW Lutheran won the consolation bracket championship.

In pool play, Laconia beat the Blazers 25-20, 25-9 and Waupaca won 19-25, 25-18, 15-11. NEW Lutheran beat Reedsville 25-20, 25-14.

In the consolation bracket, the Blazers beat Green Bay East 25-11, 25-14 and beat Oshkosh North 25-15, 23-25, 15-7.

Abby Kirchner had 93 assists, 29 digs and 12 aces for NEW Lutheran. Lexie Meerstein had 19 kills, 23 digs and six blocks. Emma Laatsch added 32 kills and 21 digs, Kiera Adams-Mcintosh had 22 kills, Kiley Dhein had 19 kills and 36 digs, and Sydney Steffel had 45 digs and five aces.

Laconia beat Waupaca 25-14, 25-18 in the championship match.

Asics Challenge

CHICAGO – Xavier finished with a 2-3 record at the tournament hosted by Mother McAuley.

Xavier had wins over Nazareth (Ill.) 25-18, 25-20 and over St. Charles East (Ill.) 25-23, 25-23.

Barrington (Ill.) beat Xavier 25-16, 25-11, Xavier (Iowa) beat the Hawks 25-23, 25-23, and WalHert Catholic (Ill.) beat Xavier 25-16, 19-25, 25-22.

Madison Daley had 37 kills, 27 digs and five blocks for Xavier. Grace Hackl had 49 digs and five aces, Sydney Neilitz had 102 assists and eight aces, Ali Tylinski had 26 kills and five aces, and Braelee Kiepert had 14 kills and 11 digs.

Other Xavier leaders were Rose Kendall with 15 kills and six blocks, Elle Downs with eight kills and nine blocks, and Lexi Allen with seven kills and six blocks.

Wrightstown Invitational

WRIGHTSTOWN – St. Mary Catholic finished in fourth place with a 3-1 record.

The Zephyrs defeated Sheboygan South 25-9, 25-12 and Hilbert 25-18, 25-16 in pool play. In bracket play, SMC beat Valley Christian 25-20, 26-24 before Wrightstown beat the Zephyrs 25-19, 25-23.

Leaders for the Zephyrs were Eliana Brenn with 14 kills and 11 aces, Autumn Crowe with 13 kills and 23 digs, Ava Rankin with 38 digs and Sammi Weiss with 36 assists.

BOYS SOCCER

Notre Dame 3, Hortonville 2

GREEN BAY – Giuliano Auricchio, Keegan Maxfield and Liam West scored goals for the Tritons in the nonconference victory over the Polar Bears.

Hortonville got goals from Wesley Barker and Dylan Glad. Noah Rindt had an assist.

Polar Bears goalie Grant Decker made three saves.

Kimberly 2, Bay Port 0

KIMBERLY – The Papermakers outshot the Pirates 7-1 in the nonconference victory.

Tyler Cruse scored the opening goal at 12:33 in the first half. He was assisted by Liam Paradiso.

Paradiso scored the second goal at 61:16 in the second half, with an assist to Brodie Hemmersbach.

Kimberly goalie Noah Sommer earned the shutout with three saves.
