Approved project expected to create 250 jobs in Montgomery County

MORAINE, Ohio (WKEF) — The approval of three Ohio projects could raise over $180M in investments across the state.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced on Monday, May 20, 2024 the approval of three projects that will create 345 new jobs and retain 77 jobs statewide.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $20 million in new payroll and spur $180 million in investments across Ohio.

Of note, The TCA approved a 1.449 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for Shearer’s Foods, LLC in the city of Moraine. Shearer’s Food is a manufacturing company specializing in producing potato, tortilla, and whole grain chips, as well as pretzels, puffs, curls, and other snacks. The project could create up to 250 full-time positions and generate more than $11.9 million in new annual payroll. The proposed project includes acquiring a new facility to increase production capacity to support a co-packing product line and increased customer demands.

The other two projects are:

Risk International Services (Northeast Ohio)

  • Expected to create 45 full-time positions
  • Expected to generate more than $4.4 million in new annual payroll

Divert, Inc. (Southwest Ohio)

  • Expected to create 50 full-time positions
