AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Championships’ impact on Amarillo economy

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The first AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Championships in Amarillo will add several million dollars to the economy.

There are over more than 400 exhibitors from 31 different states and over 400 horses at this week’s events.

“This event is bringing an impact of $3.3 million or more to the city Amarillo and the area. It’s really exciting, over 400 riders from all over the country, we have horses here from Florida, from the Northeast, from the Pacific Northwest from California to Arizona and everywhere in between,” said Karen McCuistion, senior director at AQHA.

The world show combines four premiere ranch horse events:

  • AQHA VRH World
  • AQHA RHC Finals
  • AQHA Cattle Level 1 Championships
  • NRSHA National Championship Show

“As part of this event, there are a ton a great vendors for all of your western shopping as well as fun events in the arena and some hospitality and some social events all throughout the week,” said Sydney Reynolds, director of championship shows at AQHA.

The participants, their families and coaches stay at area hotels, eat at local restaurants, buy fuel, buy feed and tack for their horses. This brings immediate financial benefits, which contributes to sustained economic development and a positive impact for the community.

The world show started June 16 and runs through June 22 at the Tri-State Fairgrounds.

The event is free to the public. For more information visit AQHA.
