ARH hosts flood relief drive for schools impacted by July 2022 flood
HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – The second anniversary of the historic flood that hit Eastern Kentucky is July, 28. Some people and organizations are still rebuilding their communities.
To commemorate the anniversary, the ARH Foundation for Healthier Communities is having a Sports Equipment Drive. It was not just individual people who were devastated by the flood, but many schools also lost everything.
“Right down to the last kickball, and we want to make sure that all of the children in ARH’s communities have access to healthy and safe sports equipment,” said Angela Bailey, the foundation’s executive director. “That’s what this sports drive is all about.”
The foundation created an Amazon wish list with equipment the schools have requested. They are accepting monetary donations. 100 percent of donations will go to the schools.
She said she is proud of ARH and all the other nonprofits that have come together and continue to serve the communities who suffered the worst of the flood.
“I have worked with donors and different nonprofit organizations in my career all over the state and all over the country,” said Bailey. “I can tell you here in Eastern Kentucky, we take care of our own.”
The fundraiser will continue through August.
