Ariana Grande Looks Enchanting in a Reflective Silver Bubble Dress

Ariana Grande has been changed “for good” by her portrayal of Glinda in Wicked, and nothing made that more clear than the film’s whirlwind press tour. The singer and actor, opposite co-star Cynthia Erivo, delighted fans with a number of pink-and-green ensembles that paid tribute to their on-screen personas—while also, naturally, holding space for the lyrics of “Defying Gravity.”

And while Wicked is out in theaters now, it seems method dressing is still in. Last night, Grande attended the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Awards, and tapped stylist Mimi Cuttrell for yet another Glinda-coded outfit.

For the occasion, the “true story” singer opted for a strapless silver gown with a voluminous bubble skirt, channeling the magic bubble her character uses to travel around Oz. The metallic dress, a custom design by Louis Vuitton, flaunted horizontal sections of reflective fabric, with its fitted bodice flaring out into a round skirt. She paired the ankle-length gown with matching silver pumps, as well as a diamond choker and earrings.

Grande leaned into her icy look with a matching glam, which included a frosty white eyeshadow, winged black eyeliner, and a dewy rose lip. Her blonde hair was slicked into a sleek bun with micro bangs, seemingly inspired by Audrey Hepburn.

Later in the night, the actor accepted the Rising Star Award, showing off her comedic side in her speech. As Jennifer Coolidge presented her with her first trophy of the year, Grande called her a “comedic genius whose brilliance has inspired my entire life” before opening up about what the award meant to her.

“I’ve been performing since I was a child, so I never thought at the age of 31 I would be hearing the words ‘rising star’ again, so I wanted to start by thanking my two friends: Botox and Juvederm,” she quipped to the laughing crowd. “I thought I’d be hearing ‘slightly withering star’ or ‘drooping star’ by now so thank you.”
