Ariana Grande Was Asked An Awkward Question At The Golden Globes And Social Media Has Thoughts

Ariana Grande’s journey down the “yellow brick road” took her on a trip to the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, but she was met with a question that was viewed as anything but “popular.”

While appearing on the red carpet on Sunday, Grande was asked by “Access Hollywood,” who was the first person she called after she found out she had been nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture category.

Grande responded and said she called “her mom,” and that’s when things took an unexpectedly uncomfortable turn. Before the singer could complete her response, the interviewer interjected and asked, “Is your grandmother still alive?”

“Yes, my Nonna, she’s 99,” The “Wicked” actor responded. “Nonna was second.”

The exchange went viral, and it didn’t take long for fans to express their outrage. One user commented on the YouTube video and said, “I cannot believe she just asked Ariana if her grandmother is still alive 🫢”

Another user on X (formerly Twitter) said: “THIS IS SICK???????#]%{^{*{+.” A user on the same platform wrote, “That is such a risky question, why would she ask that.”

During the ceremony, Grande wore a dazzling outfit, an ode to her character Glinda.

“It’s yellow because follow the yellow brick road,” Grande said to “Variety” before the show commenced. “And it’s one of Glinda’s favorite colors.”

As for her role in “Wicked,” she described it as “the most surreal thing in the entire world” and gushed that it was her “dream role.” The “Side to Side” singer added she felt “grateful to do the work every single day.”
