Arkansas State Fair sets record in second-highest turnout in Fair history

Yesterday marked the final day of the Arkansas State Fair, and the initial numbers are impressive.

Arkansans proved once again, why the State Fair is one of the top entertainment events year in and year out. A total of 550,899 people checked into the State Fair, making it the second-largest turnout in history.

General Manager, Tiffany Wilkerson said it was thrilling to have so many people, and even better that the weather allowed for it.

We were thrilled to see so many people pouring in each day,” Wilkerson said. “There is a lot of planning and hard work that goes into this event, so it’s rewarding to see it pay off and to know we are doing something right. Mother nature was certainly good to us this year. But the variety of entertainment we provide for people of all ages is what keeps people coming back year after year, rain or shine. And, with the newly implemented youth curfew and strong law enforcement presence, I think people know this is a safe and family-friendly event.”

The State Fair welcomed brand new food vendors and outdoor and indoor entertainment, which made for a memorable time for those who attended.

While many enjoyed the outdoor festivities, this year marked the successful and historic return of live music to Barton Coliseum after a long string of construction.

“We want people to know that Barton Coliseum is back and open for business,” Wilkerson said. “It is a beautiful, historical venue that is ready for the return of concerts, shows, graduations and more. Attendance numbers were not the only noteworthy achievements to report.”

Wilkerson also said the Sale of Champions Livestock auction raised a Fair-record of $250,475 for youth 4-H and FFA scholarships.
