Arlington Heights Senior Center celebrates National Senior Health & Fitness Day

Local organization part of national event to promote healthy lifestyles for older adults

The Arlington Heights Senior Center will celebrate National Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 29, with a variety of activities, health screenings, demos and more.

The Arlington Heights Senior Center will join an estimated 1,000 local groups to celebrate the 31st Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day (NSHFD) on Wednesday, May 29. As an official host site, Arlington Heights Senior Center, will hold a free health expo featuring local agency information booths, health screenings, exercise, yoga, Assitive Technology demos, a keynote presentation entitled “The Adventure of a Lifetime: Living Long and Large” by artist Denise Laurin and much more.

“Older adults at all levels of physical fitness are encouraged to participate in National Senior Health & Fitness Day,” says Patricia Henze, National Senior Health & Fitness Day program manager. “Our event goals are to increase awareness of the benefits of regular exercise, and to encourage all older adults to take advantage of the many health and fitness activities offered in their communities, as well as online.”

According to Sarah Adelphia, program coordinator at Arlington Heights Senior Center, “Our NSHFD Celebration is a wonderful opportunity for our patrons to make, renew and revitalize their commitment to live healthier lives through better health and fitness.”

Celebration to be held at Arlington Heights Senior Center, 1801 W. Central Road., Arlington Heights. This free event is open to all ages. Free tote bags will be given to the first 200 guests, and each participant will be entered into a drawing for free gift basket.
