BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 38-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested on a warrant by Bridgeport police this week in connection with an illegal gambling club, where a double-fatal shooting occurred in March, according to authorities.

  • Tampering with evidence
  • Stealing a firearm

Bridgeport Police Det. Ellam’s arrest resulted from his actions following the shootings, according to police. His bond was $75,000.

Bridgeport residents Richard Davis, 30, and Tayvon Geter, 32, were found outside the club, suffering from gunshot wounds; hey were pronounced dead a short while later at Bridgeport Hospital.

Two other victims, a 34-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, both from Bridgeport, were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The two told police that they were shot inside the club, where evidence indicated that a gun fight occurred.

At a news conference in front of the clut in early April, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim and Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter Sr. encouraged the community to report the presence of after hours clubs in their neighborhoods to help prevent similar crimes.

The Bridgeport Police Homicide Unit is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact lead Detective Keith Hanson at 203-581-5243.
