Arsenal winger Nathan Butler-Oyedeji has been in fantastic form in 2024/25 so far, and he showed it again with a well-taken goal against Chelsea on Friday night.

Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand initially miscontrolled the ball in the middle, but Butler-Oyedeji was rewarded for continuing his run as the midfielder lifted a long pass out to the in-form forward.

The 21-year-old cut onto his weaker left foot before firing a finish in at the near post for 1-0.

It wasn’t a great night for the Arsenal u21s overall, with Chelsea coming from behind to win 2-1.

The Gunners will rue a couple of big missed chances on the night, though they could have lost by even more if not for some great saves by Lucas Nygaard. The highlights are available here.

But on an individual note, Butler-Oyedeji now has seven goals and five assists in just nine appearances for the u21s this campaign.

The forward won the Premier League 2’s Player of the Month award in August, he’s been nominated again in October, and now he’s got November off to a strong start as well.

Butler-Oyedeji has already had a couple of spells in senior football, but he never really found his feet on either occasion.

Playing 14 times for Cheltenham and 11 times for Accrington Stanley, the youngster made just five starts across the two loans combined, and he never scored a goal or assisted one.

Yet the player’s return to youth football proves that he improved his game significantly on those loan spells, and perhaps it’s just a case of finding the right club to make use of his talents.

Directly contributing to 12 goals in nine games is earning him another shot in the first-team game.
